Camino Revolta 2018

On the “Camino Revolta” to a new Europe! 20-22 April 2018

In April 2018, the European Public Sphere comes to Spain to collaborate with the project "Camino Revolta" by artist Andreas Mayer-Brennenstuhl. We are organizing two dome events, one in Huarte/Pamplona on 20 April and one in San Sebastian on 22 April (two other planned dome events in Burgos and across the border in southern France have not yet been realized this year).

Andreas Mayer-Brennenstuhl started his artistic pilgrimage back to Europe in search of "NEWROPE " last year (April 2017) from the "end of the world" - Finisterre, the end of the Way of St. James . After the first 600 km in the past year the second stage will follow in April 2018. For this, he sought the cooperation with the European Public Sphere project.

Oncoming traffic on the Way of St James – Camino Revolta, 1st stage April 2017

Andreas Mayer-Brennenstuhl brings with him the “Manifesto de Finisterre”, in which he presents his first ideas for a new and solidary Europe. On the way, he wants to talk to the people who meet him: What visions and ideas do they have for their personal future, but above all for our common future? Does Europe have a future? And if so, how do we shape our "NEWROPE" as a Europe of the people? In the second stage of his path, these discussions will not only take place along the way.

At each of the two stops we will be present with the Europe Dome for one afternoon. At 15.00 o'clock the construction should be built. There will be two dome talks, one at 16.00 and 18.00.

  • How do we want to shape our community in the 21st century? Do we want a central Europe or a Europe of the regions?
  • What are the drafts for a genuine European democracy?
  • What role do education, science and art play?
  • What can a sustainable and social path of the economy and money look like for Europe?

The project „CAMINO REVOLTA“ is an artistic image of „REVERSE“ and „REBUILDING“: we are walking the Way of St. James in the opposite direction, from the end of 'old Europe' in Finisterre across Europe in search of impulses for “Neurope”.

The geodestic structure of the Europe-Dome

The special thing about the European Public Sphere talks is that they take place under a geodesic dome - transparent and open for all. With its network structure (triangles connect to pentagons and hexagons and curve to the space) our dome is a symbol for the necessary democratic statics and cultural diversity of Europe and an image of the future for the solidary society of a globalized world. Everyone is invited to take an active part in the talks. The events will be documented and made publicly accessible. Gradually, an "archive of the future" for Europe is to be created.
